Planning & Zoning

Planning and Zoning Commission shall have the following powers and duties:

1. To Review and consider proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Official Zoning Map, and Subdivision Ordinance.
2. To review and consider applications for certain forms of development as specified in the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, including Subdivisions, Special Use Permits, and Building Permits for large multi-family residential, commercial, or industrial developments, as provided in Section 90.04 of this Ordinance.
3. To periodically review the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances to ensure that they continue to reflect the needs and desires of the community.
4. To propose amendments and updates to the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, when identified as part of the aforementioned review of these documents.
5. To facilitate the development of a Comprehensive Plan for the City of Mediapolis, along with periodic updates to such Plan, whenever deemed necessary.
6. To provide formal recommendations and reports to the City Council, regarding all matters previously outlined in this section.
7. To provide technical guidance and expertise to assist City staff, officials, and members of the general public regarding planning and zoning matters.
